IPR AWARENESS SESSION
The Department of Business Administration conducted an Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Awareness Session for BBA students with the objective of creating awareness about the importance of intellectual property and its relevance in business, innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship. The session introduced students to the basic concepts of Intellectual Property Rights and explained how intellectual creations, innovative ideas, business identities, designs, and original works can be legally protected. The major objectives of the programme were: 1. To create awareness among students about Intellectual Property Rights. 2. To introduce the major forms of intellectual property such as patents, copyrights, trademarks, industrial designs, and geographical indications. 3. To explain the importance of protecting innovative ideas and creative works. 4. To make students aware of the role of IPR in business, entrepreneurship, and economic development. 5. To encourage students to respect intellectual property and avoid unauthorized use or copying of protected works. During the session, students were introduced to the meaning and significance of Intellectual Property Rights. The major types of IPR, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, industrial designs, and geographical indications, were explained with simple and relevant examples. Special emphasis was given to the importance of IPR in the business environment. Students were made aware of how trademarks help businesses protect their brand identity, how patents protect inventions and innovations, and how copyrights safeguard original literary, artistic, and digital works. The session also highlighted the relevance of intellectual property protection for entrepreneurs and start-ups. Students were encouraged to develop innovative ideas while understanding the need to protect such ideas through appropriate intellectual property mechanisms. The importance of ethical use of intellectual property was also discussed. Students were advised to acknowledge original sources, avoid plagiarism, and respect the intellectual property rights of others. The session was interactive, and students actively participated in the discussion and clarified their doubts regarding the practical application of Intellectual Property Rights. The IPR Awareness Session helped students develop a basic understanding of Intellectual Property Rights and their importance in the modern business environment. Students gained awareness about different forms of intellectual property and the need for legal protection of innovative and creative works. The programme also helped students understand the connection between IPR, innovation, entrepreneurship, branding, and business development. It encouraged them to respect intellectual property, follow ethical practices, and become more conscious about protecting original ideas and creations.
