Malayalam language courses have been offered by MES Kalladi College since its inception. The Department of Malayalam offers General Foundation courses to students in various programmes, including B.A., B.Sc., Commerce, and Management. The syllabus is designed to suit the academic requirements of each stream.

Four courses are planned for each stream across the first four semesters: Ability Enhancement courses in the first and second semesters, a multidisciplinary course in the third semester, and a value-added course in the fourth semester.

These courses provide opportunities to acquire and practice knowledge acquisition, effective communication, collaboration, inclusive education, leadership qualities, professional skills, digital intelligence, scientific awareness, critical thinking, human values, professional ethics, social and environmental responsibility, research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. They help students enhance their understanding of Malayalam language, literature, and culture, and develop the skills necessary for academic growth, professional readiness, and responsible citizenship.
