Profile

The Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, established in 2021, aims to provide skill-oriented and industry-relevant education in the rapidly expanding sectors of tourism, hospitality, travel, and event management. The programme is designed to equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, preparing them for diverse roles in service industries such as hotels, airlines, cruise tourism, travel operations, and event management.

A key highlight of the course is its strong focus on professionalism, grooming, and industry culture. Students are trained to maintain formal dress codes, personal hygiene, and professional behavior, ensuring readiness for real-world work environments. The curriculum emphasizes experiential learning through interactive lectures, role plays, case studies, presentations, and industry interactions, supported by ICT-enabled classrooms.

The department provides hands-on training through a well-equipped Hospitality Laboratory and access to comprehensive learning resources. A major strength of the programme is its structured internship and study tour components. Students undergo regular study tours and multiple internships, including a six-month final semester internship, offering extensive industry exposure.

With a strong placement record, the programme prepares students for successful careers in hospitality, tourism, and allied sectors, ensuring both employability and professional excellence.

destination visit/study tour

Study Tour Report: Goa & Dandeli (November 15-20, 2025) The Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management at MES Kalladi College successfully organized a study tour to Goa and Dandeli from November 15 to November 20, 2025. A total of 37 students from the B.Voc 3rd-year batch participated in this enriching experience. The tour was escorted by faculty members Mr. Jofin Antony and Ms. Anju V.A. The study tour aimed to provide students with firsthand exposure to tourism and hospitality operations, including resort management, adventure tourism, and ecotourism activities. In Goa, students explored prominent tourist attractions, visited luxury hotels, and learned about beach tourism. The visit to Dandeli focused on adventure tourism, including river rafting, jungle safaris, and eco-tourism practices. The trip was a valuable learning experience, allowing students to gain practical insights into the industry while enhancing their teamwork and organizational skills.
