Programme Overview

M.Sc Botany

The M.Sc. Botany programme is a postgraduate course under CBCSS with 80 credits, designed to provide advanced knowledge and research training in plant sciences. The curriculum includes core subjects such as phycology, mycology, microbiology, plant pathology, cell and molecular biology, genetics, ecology, plant physiology, taxonomy, biotechnology, and bioinformatics. Practical courses are conducted in every semester, ensuring strong laboratory and analytical skills. The programme offers elective courses, along with audit courses for skill and professional development. A compulsory dissertation and viva voce in the final semester promote independent research and scientific inquiry. The evaluation system combines internal and external assessments, ensuring comprehensive academic development.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must possess a B.Sc. Degree in Botany or equivalent from a recognized university.

The degree should include Botany as the main/core subject.

Must satisfy minimum marks and admission criteria as per university regulations.
