Programme Overview

M.A. Economics

The M.A. Economics program offers an advanced study of economic theories and their practical applications. The curriculum includes core courses in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Indian Economy, and Quantitative Methods, along with electives such as International Trade and Financial Markets. The program is designed to develop critical thinking, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of global economic dynamics. Students will also engage in research and practical projects, equipping them for careers in policy-making, research, and economic consultancy.

Eligibility Criteria

B.A. degree in Economics/Foreign Trade/Development Economics with at least 50% CGPA, or a B.Sc. degree with Mathematics/Statistics as a major and at least 70% marks.

OBC/OEC candidates are eligible for a 5% relaxation; SC/ST candidates need only a pass grade

Programme Outcomes (PO)

PO1

Advanced Economic Knowledge: Graduates will acquire advanced knowledge of microeconomics, macroeconomics, public finance, international trade, development economics, and the Indian and Kerala economies, enabling them to understand and interpret complex economic issues in national and global contexts.

Analytical and Quantitative Competence: Graduates will develop strong analytical, mathematical, statistical, and econometric skills to examine economic relationships, test hypotheses, and solve real-world economic problems using appropriate quantitative techniques.

Research and Problem-Solving Ability: Graduates will be able to identify research problems, design suitable methodologies, collect and analyze data, and prepare academic or policy-oriented reports with clarity, logic, and scholarly rigour.
