B.Sc Food Technology Honours

The B.Sc. Food Technology Honours programme is a multidisciplinary science course designed to provide in-depth knowledge of food composition, processing, safety, and quality. The syllabus includes core subjects such as food chemistry, microbiology, nutrition, food engineering, processing, preservation, and packaging. It emphasizes practical learning through laboratory work, internships, and industrial visits. The programme also covers food safety regulations, product development, sensory evaluation, and entrepreneurship. Students gain analytical, technical, and research skills, along with digital and professional competencies. With a structured credit system and industry exposure, the course prepares graduates for careers in food industries, research, quality control, and innovation.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who have passed (Eligible for Higher Studies)the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognised as equivalent thereto with Science and Mathematics are eligible for admisson

PSO1

The ability to understand physico- chemical, microbiological, sensory and nutritional aspects of foods

PSO2

Develop the skills to analyze preservation, processing, packaging and storage of foods

PSO3

Evaluate the technologies and processes for producing value added food products.

PSO4

The ability to apply and evaluate standard practices, Laws and regulation in food production

PSO5

Develop understanding of the fundamental concepts of BSc Food Technology needed for a deeper study of related fields of knowledge viz. Food Chemistry, Food Microbiology and Food Engineering etc.

Develop the experimental and analytical skills in BSc Food Technology that can be of useful applications in allied areas of knowledge
