B. Sc. Physics Honours

This is a specialized 4-year undergraduate program introduced under modern educational frameworks (like the NEP in India). Course is designed for students who don't just want to learn physics, but want to do physics. It bridges the gap between a standard undergraduate education and a PhD. In the first 1-3 years you cover the core curriculum (Mechanics, Electrodynamics, Quantum Mechanics, Mathematical Physics, Material and Nano science and Photonics).The fourth year focuses on research, there you can work under a faculty mentor to conduct experiments or theoretical modelling. The skill gained by the students focus on the proficiency in computational tools like Python advanced laboratory instrumentation, and scientific paper writing.

Future Scope & Relevance of the course "with Research" tag has significant advantage in abroad and easy way to enter academia. Direct PhD Entry, Academic Prestige, Interdisciplinary Shift that include areas of Bio-Physics, Quantum Computing, or Climate Modeling.


Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who have passed (eligible for Higher Studies) the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognised as equivalent there to with science subjects(Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics) are eligible for admission.

Programme Specific Outcomes (PSO)

PSO1

Understand concepts and applications in the field of Physics viz. Mechanics, Electrodynamics, Thermodynamics, Optics, Quantum Mechanics, Electronics etc.

PSO2

Develop the skills for experimentation to measure, analyse and interpret empirical data, and present the results in a methodical and accessible way.

PSO3

Evaluate complex real-world problems by applying principles of theoretical and applied physics, and mathematical and computational models.

PSO4

Design and execute a Project to solve real-world problems in accordance to the need of the industry and academic research, in a stipulated time frame.

PSO5

Develop understanding of the fundamental concepts of Physics needed for a deeper study of related fields of knowledge viz. Mathematics, Chemistry, Electronics,Computer Science, Geology etc.

PSO6

Develop the experimental and analytical skills in Physics that can be of useful applications in allied areas of knowledge.
